Don't get too excited: this does not mean luxury condos. "No casinos, permanent housing or private cars allowed." But this is some pretty cool stuff they're considering, so hopefully it will get rolling soon.

Trulia is a crazy real estate + google maps + property shark + ACRIS web site for those in the market for a new place. A great site for real estate porn too. Nice interface to boot!

Manhattan wages seem to be beating Inflation by over 5%, whereas the outer boroughs are not doing too well. I wonder how much the 20 million dollar bonuses in Manhattan helped skew that average?

This is a pretty cool (not in subject matter, I suppose) Flickr photo pool detailing the slow "death" of what made Williamsburg great in favor of new condo development.

Looks like the Javitz center is being expanded to only 39th Street (instead of 40th.) This is resulting in 100,000 less sqft... the nice thing is the costs of the project have gone up 50%. Don't you love city real estate development?

None of the other blogs seem to have run with this story yet, but Gothamist is reporting that food can be purchased in the Chinatown neighborhood of Manhattan. Stay tuned to ByTheMasses.com for updates on this breaking story.

(Just kidding!) Apparently the "cooler-than-you" folks of our favorite hipster-theme park, Williamsburg, are dreading and fighting the coming of "corporate america." With rumors of everything from a McDonalds on the holy intersection of Bedford and N 7th to a Starbucks by Marcy Avenue, people are very nervous of losing the neighborhood's character. Already a Subway Sandwich shop has opened (that always seems empty when we go there!) Can they fight the power with more and more rich condos open?

Looks like New York State is taking a page (no pun intended) out of USNews and Forbes with ranked lists of hospitals in the state. You can research which hospitals rank best in all sorts of different ways for different ailments. Really interesting site... hopefully you'll never need it!
